Spanning over 200 acres, Arboretum San Antonio offers a unique nature experience for all to enjoy. Located along Salado Creek and connected to City and County parks via the Howard W. Peak Greenway, the Arboretum features diverse tree collections that highlight our deep connection to the land. Our design plans envision our site as a sanctuary for learning, exploration, and reflection, providing visitors with the opportunity to connect with nature. Our plan focuses on the existing canopy and minimizes development while restoring habitat.
Nine Arboretum Zones
Our design plan focuses on the existing canopy, minimizing development while restoring the habitat. We have created nine arboretum zones based on expected audiences, visitation duration, and existing landscape resources.

The Arboretum’s 200 acres are joined by 32 acres of City of San Antonio Parks land and 18 acres of Bexar County Parks land - all connected to Salado Creek and the Howard W. Peak Greenway through our South Trailhead to become one of the largest connected green spaces in the City and Bexar County.
Our Site Plan
Visitors can explore Texas ecoregions through representative trees, climate-resilient landscapes, and Indigenous heritage through curated collections and immersive experiences. Whether enjoying a nature program in the nature center or hiking the Hero Tree Trail, Arboretum San Antonio invites all to connect, learn, and grow with San Antonio’s trees.
