We are celebrating your voice in shaping our future! Connecting with our community is the heart of our master plan. Throughout 2024, we embarked on a journey to hear your voice in shaping Arboretum San Antonio.

The response was extraordinary! You eagerly shared your vision through three online surveys, with an impressive 2,794 people weighing in on our future. Two large-scale community events drew over 100 people each, while our five popup events brought the conversation directly to five different areas of San Antonio. We dove deeper by hosting four focus group discussions to ensure a thorough exploration of ideas and concerns.

This wealth of feedback shaped three distinct design concepts, with "Wild San Antonio" receiving the most votes (49%) after our October 22 community event.

Your feedback throughout 2024 informed our three initial design concepts and is guiding the overall master plan concept design, which will be presented in April 2025. The final concept plan will incorporate components from all three plans based on the community's favorite parts of each and address any concerns.

The following themes emerged from our community and are guiding the final design:

  • Balance of Community and Nature

  • Cultural and Environmental Education

  • Indigenous Knowledge

  • Environmental Stewardship

  • Restoration

  • Climate Adaptation

  • Diverse Recreation Opportunities

  • Tree Research

  • Low Impact Design
